The Richard Lange Pour le Mérite appears ordinary at first for its simple dial composition of only the hours, minutes and small seconds, however upon close inspection one would discover the details that lie within its complicated mechanisms. Consisting of 915 individual components, the present watch incorporates a "fusée and chain" movement, a complication which ensures a constant energy distribution from the barrel, regardless if it is fully wound or not. The fusée and chain mechanism is rarely implemented into wristwatches, and in true A. Lange & Söhne fashion these fine movements are exposed on the sapphire crystal display back, making the present watch highly exclusive and collectable.
